

Joseph Scherrer, 74, of Orangevale, CA passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones on June 16, 2023. In loving memory of our dad, Joseph Scherrer who was the committed husband of Lynn and supportive dad of Andrea, Christopher, Patrick, Jennifer, Stephanie and Elizabeth. As well as loving grandfather to Mavrick, Jonathen, Alexander, Craig 3rd, Brandon, Adam, Jasmine, and Taja—whom he never had the chance to meet. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Joe was a man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.He was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or needed practice with our sports. He was a man that taught us the importance of family, hard work, doing what is right, and how to think independently. Our dad was a true role model who we will always look up to. The funeral mass will be held at Divine Saviour on June 29 at 10:30 AM. The burial will be held on June 29 at 12:00 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park. Joe was born on July 26, 1948 to Frank and Madge Scherrer in Princeton, IN. He spent the last 50 years in California where he met his wife Lynn in 1971 while working at the McClellan Air Force Base. They fell in love almost instantly and were lifelong partners together for 51 years. Joe was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He served with the United States Air Force starting in September of 1968 as an Airmen and retired as a Colonel in October of 2007. Joe also worked as a Special Program Coordinator for the Citrus Heights Water District from March 1988 to July of 2010, and he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Joe was an adoring Papa and would spend his free time building a baseball diamond in the arena for his grandson Mavrick, as well as passionately sharing his knowledge about the weather, cosmos and sciences. Anyone who knew Joe knew that he was the most supportive dad and spouse a family could ask for. Joe was predeceased by his mother Madge, and his father Frank. He is survived by his brothers Jim and Jerry, and his sisters Susan and MaryAnn.
