Born on June 26, 1934, June devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her role as a proud military wife. Married to her beloved husband, Charles T. Thompson, for over 40 years, she proudly and powerfully navigated the challenges and triumphs that military life brought—relocations, deployments, and the constant need to adapt—always with resilience and grace. Her strength, perseverance, and deep compassion shaped the lives of her four children, Dana Thompson (Freida), Tanya Reaves, Kevin Thompson (Gina), and Daryl Thompson (Shaynne), whom she raised with strong Christian values.
June found joy in reading her Bible, attending church, singing in the choir, and serving in many women’s ministries. She lived her beliefs every day and taught others by example. Her gentle spirit, warm personality, and positive, thankful perspective blessed everyone who knew her. In addition to her Lord, and her family, she loved sports. She was visible and vocal at the games of her sons and grandchildren. She was also a passionate season tickets holder for more than 40 years in support of her beloved Sacramento Kings basketball team.
In spite of the many relocations associated with being a devoted military wife, she had an outstanding employment career. She served as an Executive Secretary in several organizations before arriving at her husband’s final Air Force assignment location in the Sacramento area, where she pivoted and advanced to the new role of Procurement Specialist with Aerojet Rocketdyne. She retired from Aerojet in 1992 and promptly began a parttime career with Macy’s as a Jewelry Department Sales Consultant. It was a role that truly encompassed her love for helping people, her love for fine fashion, and her love for shopping!
June was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her brother Earl Johnson, her brother William King, and grandson Justin Reaves. She is survived by her sister Phyliss Osbourne, her sister Marilyn Lovejoy, her four children, nine grandchildren (Karma, Monica, Daley, Nathaniel, Isabella, Durrell, Caelyn, Keyanna, and Kylee), nine great-grandchildren (Adia, Chosen, Sincere, Noble, Ryleigh, Daley Jr, Jade, Ariana, and Alaina), numerous nieces and nephews, and a community of extended family in Christ who loved her dearly. June’s life was full, her presence a blessing, and her faith unshakeable.
A celebration of her life will be held at Valley Redemptive Church (11430 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628) on January 20, 2026, where loved ones will gather to honor her legacy.
