

Was born to Harm & Hazel Walthoff, on March 31, 1936, in Coloma, South Dakota. The family moved to Sacramento California, when he was 5 years old with his two younger brothers, Marlin & Charlie. He attended Grant Union High School, where he graduated in June 1954. He then enlisted in the Air Force on Oct 13, 1954. In 1957 Larry then met the love of his life, Joan Oltmer. He got married on March 7, 1957; and had four children. He was discharged from the Air Force in 1958. Larry then enlisted in the Reserves in March 1962 at McClellan AFB in California as a Chief and Flight engineer on C-119 aircraft. He then was recalled to active duty in October of 1962. Larry and Joan bought an old house on a 1/2 acre of property and built their dream home. He was an Air Reserve Technician in his civilian job and was a supervisor of the Scheduled Inspection Section for the 940th Air Refueling Group at Mather Air Force Base, California. And then in 1993 he retired. In between his work, raising his children, building his home, he found time to do what he enjoyed in life, riding his motorcycle, where he did many trips on and many camping trips with his family. Larry enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan Walthoff, children Debbie Young and James Walthoff, granddaughter Crystal Rista, grandsons, Christopher, Brandon, Nicholas, and Andrew Walthoff, great-grandchildren Jordyn, Alexis, Payton, Kennedy Rista, Carrisa, Brandon Jr, Hailey, and Jordan Walthoff. He was preceded in death by his dad, mother and grandson Brian. Service will be held on Friday January 11, 2013 at 10:00a.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks CA 95628
