

Mariano Asuncion Marquez of Antelope, Ca passed away on January 25, 2019 at Oakridge Healthcare Center in Roseville, Ca. He was 86 years old. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death.
A wake and a celebration of his life was held on February 3, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 in the evening at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, Ca 95628. There was a short viewing still at Mount Vernon from 8:00 to 9:30 in the morning on January 4, 2019 before the funeral service at 10:00 in the morning at Saint Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Boulevard, Roseville, Ca 95747. Interment followed at Mount Vernon at 11:30. A reception was held at Golden Koi Buffet, 731 Pleasant Grove Boulevard, Roseville, Ca 95678.
Mariano was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 7, 1932. His parents were Juan and Josefa Marquez. He was the second child among 9 children. He married the love of his life, Jovencia, on April 4, 1964. They were together for 54 years and had three children.
Mariano served in the Armed Forces of the Philippines for 28 years. He was with the Air Force. Before his retirement, he was the non-commissioned officer-in-charge of the Aviation Security Command tasked to provide security for Laoag International Airport. He was very dedicated and hardworking and much loved and respected by his colleagues.
As a husband, father and later on, grandfather, he was very loving, caring, supportive and selfless and was always thinking about the family’s welfare first. He and Jovencia managed their restaurant and snack bar in Quezon City before they migrated to the United States.
Mariano was survived by his daughters Evelyn and Thelma (and husband, Rufo), his only son Wilfred; his grandchildren Jessica, Angelica, Marianne, and Christian; and siblings Visitacion, Estrella, Alberto and Percy.
