Melanie Michelle Ottersen

Our beloved, Melanie Michelle Ottersen, unexpectedly passed away on May 31, 2022, at the age of 41. She is survived by those who loved her most including her mother, Shirley (Chris), sister, Nicole (Michael), brother, Erik (Amber), sister, Stephanie (Miguel) and four nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her dad, Larry, grandparents, Nick and Sarah “Sally” Emmett, Ovida “Vi” and Deward “Jonsey”, Norman Ottersen, and Uncle Mark Ottersen.

Melanie was born in Pensacola, Florida on June 23, 1980 to Larry and Shirley Ottersen - the second of four children, Melanie lived up to every bit of her fiery red hair. Not only was she a striking beauty but she had an infectious laugh and incredible sense of humor. As a military brat, Melanie lived in Florida, Japan, Rhode Island and Hawaii before finally settling in California. Melanie graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Business - she worked hard and was incredibly proud of the business she co-owned in Folsom.

She loved deeply and valued her close friendships and extended family who were always there for support. Melanie treasured being an auntie to her 4 nieces and nephews.

Melanie loved music and would get lost for hours to the sound of her favorite songs in her airpods. She is gone too soon but her memory will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace sweet angel, until we meet again.

Funeral services will be Wednesday June 22 at 12pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary in Fair Oaks, CA
