

Milan “Mike” Maletic was born in Zumberak, Croatia, December 17, 1940 to John and Ana Maletic. At the age of 18, Mike traveled on the ship Volcania to America and began his American dream in Cleveland, Ohio. Mike later traveled west to Los Angeles and worked for Mike Bubalo. In the late 60’s, Mike moved to Sacramento and began to work under the license of Paul’s Sewer Service and his passion for construction began. It was then, he met and married Janet Stockebrand and they had 3 children, John, Lisa and Michael. In the early 70’s he joined forces with Larry Craig and formed Maletic & Craig Construction Co., LLC. Mike and Janet divorced in 1978. In 1980, Mike married Biba who had a young daughter Bobbie. In1981 their daughter Christina was born and a blended family was created. In 1982 Maletic and Craig Const., LLC became Mike Maletic Construction, Inc. Mike was a founding member of the Croatian American Cultural Center where he was an active board member and CACC President from 1996 – 1998. He donated his construction expertise and hundreds of manual hours for the ground up construction of the Croatian Hall. Mike was engaged in all of the CACC festivities and was committed to the growth of the Croatian community. Mike passed away on April 2, 2013 and was preceded in death by his mother, father and half-brother. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Biba Maletic, his sisters Zdenka Kavcic and Dragica Jeras of Kirtland, OH, his son’s John (Kim) and Michael Maletic of Prospect, OR, daughters Lisa (Douglas) Bean of Central Point, OR, Christina (Kevin) Forbes of Phoenix, AZ and Bobbie (John) Angulo of Sacramento, CA, 11 grandchildren, Kylie, Julia, Kara, Justin, Zyler, Cody, Lauren, Jackson, Joseph, Samantha and Morgan and numerous nieces and nephews. His hobbies included Kolo dancing, fishing, playing soccer and bocci ball.
