Survived by father, Reese and sister Lisa White and family. Preceded in death by mother, Lucille and brother, Jeff Ervin. Graduated Del Campo High School, Class of 1970. Randy was a painter by trade. He loved family, football and fishing and never missed a sporting event, youth choir performance or marching band show of his nephews and niece. A celebration of his life will be held at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church (in the chapel in the back) on November 22, 2013 at 11:00.
Biography
Randy Bill Ervin was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Randy will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Bill and Lucille Ervin. Randy grew up in Grand Terrace, California; near San Bernardino.
Randy was raised with two siblings. He had a younger brother, Jeff, and his youngest sibling was Lisa. Randy was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Randy had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing outside near their Grand Terrace home and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Randy was an active child who took part in the golf team. He was a boy scout and loved to collect baseball cards.
Randy graduated from Del Campo High School in 1970. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. His favorite class in high school was philosophy.
Randy enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Randy was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his AA in liberal Arts from American River College.
Fortunately, Randy enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Randy worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was a painter. He was employed for 20 years as a union painter before starting his own painting company. Randy always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Randy enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were cooking and deep sea fishing. He was known by all his close friends to have the best Super Bowl parties, starting at the break of dawn with his famous cinnamon bubble bread. He enjoyed spending time with his family and would go out of his way to do so. He loved finding new and creative things to do with his grand nephew, Noah.
Randy found pleasure in sports. Randy was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Top on his list was football, and he loved to watch it any time the Rams were playing.
Randy was a man who took pride in upholding his beliefs. Politically, Randy was a strong supporter of the Democrat party.
Randy’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church.
Randy enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Costa Rica, Mexico and family vacations to Gualala, Santa Cruz and Fort Bragg.
Randy was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Shadow Fax, his black laborador. Whom he spent a lot of time and energy in training him to do amazing tricks. He would often bring him up, and had amazing stories about him. They were best friends for 12 years.
Randy passed away on November 5, 2013 at at his home in Granite Bay, California. He battled Melanoma since October 2012. He is survived by his father Reese Bill Ervin and his sister, Lisa White and family. Services were held at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church. Randy was laid to rest in Mt Vernon Cemetary.
Randy was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Randy leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Randy Bill Ervin.
