I grew up with Richie, he was in my close circle of friends. I was banned from facebook when he passed, and didn't find out until months later. I'm still in shock about it. He kind of pushed everyone away from him, but I wish I could have put that aside and been a better friend to him when he really needed it.   

Richie I’m so comforted by the knowledge that you are with your mom.  Having faith in Jesus Christ and His plan of happiness and eternal life. Familys can be together forever.

The Holesapple family-

I am very sorry for your loss. I only recently found out and wanted to share my condolences. My name is Maysam and I spent time with Richard at a program in Utah when we were both 17. We were in the same group for some time and shared a room together for many months. While it’s been 15 years since I saw him last, I will always remember him for being the caring, funny, and good hearted person he was. He was one of the few people there that made my time more bearable because of his friendship. My thoughts and prayers are continuously with you. 

I'm very sorry for your tragic loss! A fellow that I correspond with at CIM wrote me about Richard. Here are some excerpts from his letter. 

"Richard dying really got to me. We played chess almost every day and he was a pro. I saw him as misunderstood, lonely, and empty, but extremely smart. Our friendship was based solely on chess and occasionally we ate together. I think I recognized in him the same pain I used to have. I've tried to inspire him to seek God in subtle ways . . . "
