Robert “Bob” John Biamonte passed away Sept. 26 at home in Folsom with his devoted wife Dot at his side. His death was due to complications of congestive heart failure. Born in Jersey City, NJ to Fortunato and Carmela Biamonte, he was predeceased by his parents and brother Nicholas, he is survived by wife, Dorothy and children, Rick and Jeannie and brother Angelo (Marlene). He leaves his two loving grandchildren, Ricky and Berenger. Bob was also godfather to several of his many nieces and nephews in NJ.
Bob’s Italian family loved music and feasts. He was crowned ‘king’ and rode with his ‘queen’ at a young age, on a much decorated wagon for a local feast. His brother Angelo was his best baby-sitter. He was the president of the Italian Club at Dickinson HS, Jersey City, leading the members in dancing the ‘Tarantella’ and studying the culture and language. He taught CCD at Our Lady of Libera Church, West New York, NJ. He also was stage manager for several of Fr. Fanelli’s song and dance productions.
A manager for Weight Watchers in Paramus, NJ, where he was famous for his culinary skills, making delicious foods within the program guidelines, Bob was promoted to Area Director of the Sacramento area. The family moved to California in 1980 to allow him to pursue his career, in which he was skilled at finding locations, entertaining large audiences, and using his managerial skills.
After leaving Weight Watchers, Bob began a floral business at Copperwood Square, Citrus Heights, then moved it and named it Almond Orchard Florist. He increased his floral skills and knowledge by becoming an FTD Master Designer. Bob taught floral design classes in his store and at Sierra College. In Fair Oaks, he was very active in the Chamber of Commerce, holding several offices including president and receiving awards. Through the Chamber, he became a member of NAB, which helped young wrong-doers to reform and avoid Juvenile Hall. He loved displaying his creative floral arrangements, and decorated many Chamber activities.
A member of Divine Savior parish, he enjoyed the fellowship of others, especially at the Lenten ‘stations and soup’.
He continued using his floral skills at Sam’s Club in Folsom, and later began working in the financial office.
After retirement he embraced, with gusto, his gardening. He planned them, built containers, and worked in the garden as much as possible. Then he shared the overabundance.
If you are planning a remembrance, the family would be honored for donations to the Folsom Fire Dept., 535 Glenn Dr., Folsom, CA 95630, whose dedicated members graciously came to the house at all hours when Bob needed extra help. Their graciousness, strength and support have been heart-warming.
