Roberta Cassells

Roberta Cassells, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Marquis Shasta Post Acute Rehabilitation and Long Term Care facility in Redding, California. She was born January 14, 1939, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to William and Mary Thurmond. Roberta graduated high school and completed some college. Roberta attended a trade school and earned her certificate as a highly-skilled Key Punch Operator. Roberta utilized her training while working for the phone company in Sacramento, California, for more than thirty years. Roberta found joy in making others happy. She could always be counted on to bake and present birthday cakes and other goodies for the various celebrations at work. She was a great friend and mother to those in need of a shoulder to cry on or an ear to bend. In her spare time, Roberta loved to read mystery novels and challenge herself on completing 1,000 piece puzzles. Roberta is survived by her four children: Keith Cassells, Dawne Cassells-Ellison, Monique Cassells, and Anthony Cassells, and two grandchildren; Carmen Cassells and Meika Ellison; and several great grand children.

Her Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at 12:00 p.m., also at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary.
