Ruth Marie Rolf Polster was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 6, 2015. Ruth was born on September 15, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri to Louis Fredrick Rolf (WW I Veteran) and Emily Marie Floescher Rolf (Mimi). Ruth was a loving and faithful wife to her husband, Rev. Theodore (Ted) Walter Polster. They met while Ted was a student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. After becoming engaged, Ruth contracted tuberculosis and was hospitalized at the Lutheran Sanitarium in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Ted and Ruth wrote to each other almost every day for the two years that Ruth was sick. God healed Ruth and they were married on October 22, 1944 and were blessed with five children: Dorothy, Connie, Ted, Phil and Richard.
Ruth served along-side of her husband as his helpmate while they ministered together at three congregations. The first was, Town & Country Lutheran Church in Sacramento, California from 1953-1960. The second was, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pacifica, California from 1961-1964. Their final ministry was at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Cupertino, California from 1964-1984 and then Ted retired. Ted preceded Ruth in death in 1987.
Ruth was a very kind woman with a humble personality and inner strength who loved to travel, had a witty sense of humor and always had a sweet smile for all those around her. Ruth really enjoyed being a grandma to her 13 grandkids and a great grandma to her 18 great grandkids. She was able to attend all of her children's’ weddings at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Cupertino, California and witnessed most of her grandkids and great grandkids baptisms.
In Ruth’s later years as her health began to fail, she was looking forward to being together forever with her family that had preceded her to Heaven. Ruth is now fully healed, has no pain or tears and is looking forward to the rest of her family and friends who love Jesus joining her for all eternity worshipping our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
