Sam Maggi was born on October 26, 1919 in San Jose, CA and passed away peacefully at the age of 95 with family by his side in Roseville, CA on November 29, 2014. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran who served on an artillery ship in the South Pacific. He worked for 45 years for Santa Clara Packing (Glorietta Foods) - starting as a Cannery foreman and working his way up to managing the Shipping department. He retired in 1980 and enjoyed 34 wonderful years of gardening, watching sports, drawing his birds, playing games, some travel, and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Sam met Mary Ann Conklin on a blind date and married her 6 months later in January 1957. They raised two sons, Mark and Greg, in San Jose and moved to Roseville in 1997. Sam came from a large Italian family with his parents (Vito and Elisabetha), three brothers (Frank, Steve, and Bud), and two sisters (Lena and Teresa) all preceding him in death. Sam is survived by his wife Mary Ann, sons Mark (Cindy) and Greg (Christie), and grandchildren Jeff (Leslie), Christie, and Brandon.
Sam was known for his loving manner and was always the perfect gentleman. He always had a ready smile for everyone he met. He was a devoted Husband, caring Father, generous and affectionate Papa, and favorite Uncle and Cousin. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
