

is the oldest of sixteen children born to Pink and Estella Taylor. In the early morning on January 10,
2023, God chose to give her eternal rest to be with Him.
Savannah accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age, she joined the Evening Star Baptist Church in
Lake Providence, Louisiana. As a young lady she met the love of her life, William Randell, Sr. and later
married in November 1944. To this union they were blessed with three children. Later, after marriage
the family moved from Lake Providence to Tallulah, Louisiana around 1950 with their two children. In
Tallulah, Louisiana their youngest child was born. Savannah’s husband now retired from the Army,
came home one day while working for the Chicago Mill and told his wife they would be moving to
California.
In 1952 the family relocated to Herlong, California. While residing in Herlong Savannah and her
husband were active members of the First Baptist Church. Later in 1964 they moved to Sacramento,
California making it their permanent home. Upon Savannah and her husband’s arrival in Sacramento
they joined Shiloh Baptist Church in 1964.
After joining Shiloh, Savannah was actively working as a Deaconess and on the Mother’s Board. She
made sure the tablecloth and drape covering the communion table was cleaned and ironed for the
first Sunday of each month. She also, preset-up for individuals to receive their communion. Savannah
worked full time at Shiloh cleaning the ladies lounge and restrooms and the church sanctuary. She
was a faithful servant fulfilling her church duties until her health started to diminish.
Savannah had many gifts and talents. Savannah enjoyed working in her yard and garden, pruning,
growing flowers and vegetables (speckled butter beans and collard greens). She loved cooking and
baking, but she was most fondly known for her amazing tea cakes and pound cakes. Savannah enjoyed
all her family, friends and loved ones feasting on her homemade desserts and speckled butter beans.
Her proudest possession was her hand stitched and sewing machine made quilts. Savannah also, did a
lot of crocheting and knitting of, hats, scarfs, potholders, afghans, bedspreads, baby blankets and
many other creations.
Savannah was preceded in death by her parents Pink Sr. and Estella Taylor; her husband, William
Randell, Sr.; her only daughter, Erma Jean; sisters Minnie, Tempie, Jinnie, Olivia, Annie Lou, Betsy,
Edna and Shelly; brothers Sidney and Fred.
Savannah is survived by her children William Jr. (Dorothy) and Charles (Loyce) her grandchildren;
Curtis (Raquel), Kalandra, Cameren and Kembra; Great grandchildren Kellen and Brynn; sisters, Ada,
Nan and Elizabeth; brothers Pink Jr. and Henry. An adopted son and neighbor, Sam (Linda) and a host
of extended family and friends.
