Sondra Rae Enos September 30, 1933- August 23, 2021
With sadness and broken hearts we share the passing of two beautiful
human beings who are now in the presence of our Lord.
Robert Francis Enos, age 85, passed away very peacefully at his home
with his loving family by his side. “Bobby” was born in Sacramento and
is proceeded in death by his Mother, Evelyn, and Father, Melvin Francis
Enos.
Sondra Rae Enos, 87, passed away very peacefully most recently at
Belhaven Estates with her loving family and caregivers by her side.
“Sonnie” was born is Nebraska and is preceded in death by her Mother,
Ruth, and Father, Floyd Roberts.
Bobby and Sonnie’s life together began as a love story fairytale and
remained that way for the 67 years they were married. The couple was
inseparable from the first time they met starting at Mc Clatchy High
School in the early 1950’s. Following their marriage in early 1953, their
one and only child, Ricky, was born in December of that year.
Bobby’s career with the State of California in the Division of Highways
Department was long and rewarding. His work with mapping and
drafting along with his art skills for designing highway signage and
symbols was a large part of his assignments. A bulk of his work was
used in publications, presentations and illustrations for the State of
California and used by past Governors as needed. His career started in
1954 and after 37 years, he retired in 1991.
Sondra’s career took place right across the street from Bobbie’s office
in the State Capitol building. It was there that she worked as a secretary
for the Legislative Council. She loved her job, especially the excitement
of the system. She covered every inch of the Capitol and being on the
Senate Floor, she always took the stairs to keep her perfect shape.
Sondra retired in April of 1992 after 23 years of service.
It was during all of these years with the example of their desire to
always be together that they rode to and from work together every day
and spent many, many “lunch dates” in Capitol Park enjoying each
other’s company.
After retirement, the best times of their lives were spent together in
the home that they built in 1959. Gardening became their passion
always enhancing the landscaping year after year. Bobby performed his
landscaping skills until he was 80 enjoying every minute of it. As their
son, I had always suggested that they have a photo shoot in their
backyard for Sunset Magazine; it was that special. But both mom and
dad hated that idea as they both cherished their privacy. Their great
passion for their back yard was yet another example of doing things
and being together.
For those that knew my dad and for those that didn’t, he was the
kindest and most honest man I have ever known. He stood for integrity
and was always a man of his word.
For those who knew my mom and for those who didn’t, her blue eyes
were her trade mark. I don’t think a day went by without someone
making a comment about them. Mom was the most incredible, strong
willed, determined woman pound for pound, bar none. For those that
did know her they would surely agree. For me, I too feel that my early
years at home were like a fairytale. Growing up in a home with
unconditional love and caring bring a flood of wonderful memories.
Both Robert and Sondra are survived by their son Rick “Ricky” Enos,
(Daugher in-law Alicia), Grandson Gino Francis Enos, (Tosha), Great
Grandson Enzo Francis Enos, Great Granddaughter Evelyn Frances Enos,
along with Bobby’s loving sister Marilyn Kochis, and Sonnie’s loving
sisters Carolyn Grainger, Cindy Peterson and Debbie Bahruth, (Forest).
Included are also all of their wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We would like to pay a special thank you for Bobby’s oncologist for 25
years of unwavering and committed service, Dr. John Kailath, along
with Bobby’s and Sonnie’s doctors, Dr. David Roberts, Dr. Richard
Erickson, Dr. Charanjit Sandhu, Dr. Norman Reyes, Dr. Linda Agresti
along with all the kind staff at both Sutter Roseville Hospital and Mercy
San Juan Hospital in Carmichael and to Dr. Tarang Patel and the Davita
staff with a sincere thanks to Mom’s angel there Hannah. Thank you to
Monica, Dan, Jennifer, and all the loving caregivers at Belhaven Estates.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Bobby
and Sonnie at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in their chapel located at
