Thomas Feik was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Anthony and Mary Feik on March 2, 1936. He grew up in Honesdale, Pennsylvania and attended Catholic high school throughout his childhood. He enjoyed hunting, catching eels, and going to the movies with his brother, Robert Feik.
During high school Tom was in the Pennsylvania National Guard, and after high school, he proudly joined the United States Air Force. During his career, he was stationed in New Hampshire, Kansas, Arizona, Sacramento, and Massachusetts. During his time in Massachusetts, Tom was introduced to his wife, Norma Harlow, when on a double date with his friend. Ironically, Norma was actually his friend's date. Tom would later explain to his family that the two of them "just hit it off." After a short courtship, he asked Norma to marry him. He always spoke fondly of the great times they had going out dancing and hanging out with friends and family. Tom and Norma were joined in Holy matrimony at a Catholic Church in Massachusetts on February 16, 1957.
One year later in February of 1958, almost to the day, Tom and Norma rejoiced at the arrival of their first daughter, Sheryl Ann. Then, two years later in May of 1960, they welcomed their second daughter, Susan Lynn. Tom thoroughly enjoyed his time in the USAF and traveled to many countries. He often shared stories of his time in Japan, Korea, Iceland, and Brazil. After 21 years of honorable service, Tom retired from the Air Force in Sacramento, California and began his civil service career at McClellan Air Force Base as an Aircraft Pneudraulic Technician. Tom and Norma purchased a home and settled in the Sacramento area where they finished raising their teenage daughters and welcomed their granddaughter, Tami Lynn, in 1978.
Tom's daughters and granddaughter were his pride and joy. He taught them that staying busy and working hard was the key to success. Tom was never idle. He was always doing yardwork, fixing things around the house, or chipping away away at Norma's never-ending "Honey-Do" list.
In 2004 and 2006, Tom and Norma welcomed their great granddaughters, Gabriella and Mia, respectively, into the family. Tom was so proud of his 5 girls and did whatever he could to teach and support them. Through the decades, he taught his girls to hunt, fish, repair things around the house, yardwork, and even fun things like how to float in a pool.
For the past 4 years, Tom lived with Tami, her husband Jaime, Gabriella, and Mia. The time that they spent together taking trips, telling stories, sharing laughs, and drinking wine left an indelible impression on their lives. In short, Tom was the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He was dearly love by all of his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Tom's family would like to thank his caregivers at The Commons in Elk Grove for the wonderful and loving care that they gave Tom during the last two months of his life.
He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary in Fair Oaks, California on May 3, 2022.
