Travis Austin Stapleton, 94, of Carmichael passed away on October 12, 2013. He was born in Coalgate, Coal County, Oklahoma on July 16, 1919.Travis graduated from Coalgate High School at age 16. At the age of 40 he married Helen Elizabeth McDaniel on January 16, 1965. They were married for 25 years.
Travis joined the Civil Conservation Corp in 1940, and served until 1942. He then joined the U.S. Army in 1943. He served in Europe during World War II and was in France during the German Occupation. Travis had a career in Aerospace and Aircraft Supplies for McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento. He had a passion for reading, crossword puzzles and playing card games.Travis is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for Travis will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5:00pm-9:00pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary. His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. at The Home of John and Natalie Telban. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00a.m at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
