

Yalanda Lee Shody was born to Alma Craney on 6 August 1959 in the city of Sacramento CA. While still a baby, her mother married Calvin Fuller and over the 1960’s and 1970’s the family of three grew to an active family of seven with Yalanda being the eldest of three girls and two boys. While growing up, Yalanda’s adoptive father Calvin served in the USAF and reached the rank of master sergeant prior to retiring. His duty assignments allowed Yalanda to live and attend school in several locations in the USA, Japan, and the Azores. When he retired from the USAF, the entire family including parents (Alma and Calvin Sr.), brothers (Calvin Jr. and Todd) and sisters (Yalanda, Tammy and Cindi) moved back to Sacramento. Yalanda started attending California State University at Sacramento in 1978 and also began working for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Dept. She met 2nd Lt. Stephen S. Shody in Sacramento CA in October 1979 and they married on 21 Feb 1981. Over the next 41 years, Yalanda lived a beautiful life as a loving wife to Stephen, an elementary school teacher in Germany, a Fashion Model in Germany and California, a fashion businesses owner in Sacramento and Los Angeles and gained many friends and admirers throughout her travels in the USA, Europe, Mexico, Virgin Islands, and the Far East. Yalanda passed due to a brief illness on 16 Oct 2022 in Saint Augustine Florida where she and her husband retired five years ago. She is survived by her husband of 41 years Stephen, her mother Alma and step father Cleve Craney, Calvin Fuller Sr.,sisters Tammy Sickels, and Cindi Fuller, brothers Calvin Fuller Jr. and Todd Fuller and many other relatives. Bon Voyage Yogi and to a life well lived! The world lost a beautiful person and we will always miss you. Funeral Services and Interment will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary, Fair Oaks CA on the 3rd of November 2022.
