Alicia C. “Licha” Jaime passed away in El Campo, Texas, of an extended, courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, on December 23, 2017 at the age of 85. She was born in Brooks County, Texas to Francisco Morales Chavana and Josefina Martinez Chavana on November 24, 1932. She will be honored and laid to rest in the Falfurrias Burial Park beside her husband of 60 years, Manuel Arevalo Jaime, who died on April 4, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her brother, Noe Chavana. She is survived by her daughter, Belinda and her husband, James Paul of El Campo and two sons, Joseph and his wife, Sheryl B. Jaime of Tomball, Texas and David Jaime of Corpus Christi, Texas. She loved her two grandsons, Robert James Paul of San Antonio, Texas and Joseph Ricardo Jaime of Corpus Christi. Other survivors are her sister, Armandina Guerra of Hebbronville, Texas and her brother, Erasmo Chavana of Port Lavaca, Texas.
Although Alicia and Manuel lived in Wharton, Texas for 55 years she was proud to have been born in Brooks County and was a proud daughter of farmers and ranchers of Encino, Francisco and Josefina Chavana. Alicia attended Falfurrias High School.
She was a devoted, loving mother until the end, and was always her children’s greatest champion, unconditionally supporting their school activities. She enjoyed cooking, pickling, gardening, and her relationship with The Lord, and was a Prayer Warrior. She enjoyed making time for visiting her family and Manuel’s reunions, and activities. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She enjoyed shopping, decorating and seeing the lights of Christmas, baking and making tamales for her family. She also enjoyed seeing the Flamenco danced. Among many favorite things was to visit her parent’s home and ranch in Encino.
While her loss was expected, she leaves a big gap in the hearts of her loved ones. We will miss her, especially on Sundays when she was cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias.
