Arnoldo certainly did his best to live life “his way”. He entered life as a “war time” baby on December 25, 1943 in Hebbronville, Texas. He loved to brag; his birthday was celebrated the world over. He met his father as a toddler, having known only his mother due to Arnoldo Sr.’s service in WWII. It didn’t take long for him to start doing things his way. When he was encouraged to shun agriculture and pursue an education, he did the opposite. Working on the family estate, his love of cowboying and ranching took a deep hold of him. Despite his parents’ objections, he began taking jobs on other ranches and later working for the USDA tick force and the Texas Animal Health Commission. He silently declared he would do as he pleased.
He raised Arnoldo III (Annette), Javier, and Maria Teresa with ex-wife Juana Maria Canales. In doing so, his mantra waivered a little bit. The struggles of life led him to leave the career he loved so much to the Texas Department of Transportation. He also gave up his hobby of team-roping. He sacrificed his happiness to provide a better life for his family.
A new chapter opened up for Arnoldo when he married Alma (Flores). Through this union, he gained a bonus family consisting of Joe (Eunice) Rios, and Lisa Rios whom he loved very much. Alma remained at his side through countless struggles and joys of life. Her devotion was and remains unwavering.
Arnoldo’s final curtain closed on him at his home in Hebbronville, Texas. The show that was his life was grand and lively. He made friends at the drop of a hat and loved family gatherings. The friendships he made were lifelong, for when someone made it into his inner circle, he loved them dearly.
Those left wishing for an encore include; his wife and children; brothers Daniel (Patsy) and Ricardo; sisters Adela Hellen (Rodney), Cynthia Barfield (Bill), and Susie; grandchildren Kayla and Ava (Joe), Anthony (Lisa), Alyssa, Ashley, and Alexis (Arnoldo), and Carlos Javier (Javier), Alianna and Michael (Maria Teresa) and countless extended family and friends.
