Carolyn D. Lillie, or “Momo” as most people knew her, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at a nursing home in Hebbronville, Texas at the age of 76. She was born on April 19, 1947 to Abner Keaton Fox and Alice Brock Fox in Freer, Texas. Momo ventured into the cosmetology industry at a young age and attended beauty school for some time. In her early years, she owned and operated the Ponderosa Restaurant in Freer and absolutely loved it. Her passion for cooking showed in the food she served, especially to her family and friends. You could always find her watching a cooking show and trying new recipes. She was also a savvy business owner, alongside her husband, the late Rex E. Lillie. They owned and operated Rex’s Mowing Service and MKW Storage for many years.
Momo was a remarkable woman who had the world’s biggest and most generous heart, always willing to go above and beyond to help anyone at any time, no questions asked. She was a loyal and amazing friend, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the list goes on. She was an avid Elvis fan and definitely and animal lover. Momo was always happy and loved to have an optimistic view on life. In her spare time, you could most likely find her on the iPad playing her Hay Day Farmville games where she tended to her virtual farmland.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rex E. Lillie and brother-in-law, John Cannon.
Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons, Jaime Lillie of Dilley, Texas and Nathan “Siete” Lillie of Hebbronville, Texas; daughter, Shanon (Henry) Lillie-Diaz of Hebbronville; brother, Rodney (Dinah) Fox of Freer; sister, Patsy Cannon of La Marque, Texas; a niece whom she considered like a daughter, Cindy (Buddy) Freeman of Freer; eight grandchildren, Ciara Lillie, Kelly Lillie, Devin Clint, Hunter Lillie, Annyece Lillie, Tristan Lillie, Aspen Lillie and EJ Diaz; four great-grandchildren with one on the way, Kasen Lilllie, Ashton Lillie, Weston Lillie and Julia Diaz; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
