

Cristela A. Montalvo entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the beautiful age of 99. She was born in Hebbronville, Texas on January 20, 1924 to Isidro Almaraz and Delia Garza Almaraz.
Cristela never met a stranger, she loved everyone, her smile always made everyone feel welcomed. She loved to eat fideo (especially the one her daughter-in-law Ana made), calabaza con pollo and ice cream. She was dedicated to their business, Roldan’s Texaco and cattle ranches. Cristela was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America since April 20, 1977, Fire Fighters Auxiliary during WWII, member of the Garden Club, and AARP. On April 21, 2004, the local chapter of AARP 2855 honored her with the year recipient of Chapters Annual services award. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she would decorate her house with lots of lights.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roldan Montalvo, Sr.; sister, Nancy Garza; brother, Alfredo Almaraz and half-brother, Reynaldo Almaraz.
Cristela leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be treasured by her children, Roldan (Ana) Montalvo, Jr., Dalia Johnson and David (Gilda) Montalvo; sister, Melba Perez all of Hebbronville; grandchildren, Melissa Dale, Jessica (Sean) Curbow, R.J. (Jessica) Montalvo, Michael (Lety) Johnson, Vanessa (Bob) Diaz and David Ryan Montalvo; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Ryan Montalvo, Eric Montalvo, R.J. Montalvo, Omar Montalvo, Ricky Ramirez, Austin Dale and Sean Curbow.
Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville and services will conclude with Burial at New Hebbronville Cemetery.
