Cristoforo Benavides

Cristoforo Benavides, 91, of Encino, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Falfurrias, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1920 to Ramon P. Benavides and Natividad Benavides Benavides in Encino, Texas. Cristoforo proudly served our country in the United States Navy and later worked as a USPS Rural Mail Carrier for the Encino/ La Mesa areas for over 35 years until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 53 years Juanita Dacosta Benavides (1994), brothers Pedro and Domingo Benavides, sister Lucia Benavides Villarreal, Step-Mother Rosa Benavides, Daughter –in-law Gloria J. Benavides and Brother-in-law Aniceto Villarreal.

He is survived by his two sons Felipe (Shirley J.) Benavides of Brownsville, Texas and Carlos (Frances) Benavides of Mathis, Texas, two daughters Rosalinda B. (Cecilio) Barrera of San Marcos, Texas and Blanca Alicia (Garry) Lockey of San Antonio, Texas, brother Felix (Amanda) Benavides of Austin, Texas, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-sister Carolina Benavides of Encino, Texas, two sister-in-law Amparo Benavides of Encino, Texas and Marta Benavides of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Encino, Texas.

Burial will follow at the Benavides Family Cemetery on Las Cuatas Road in Encino, Texas.
