

Elva L. Mangel passed away at the age of 79 at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas on September 4, 2021. Elva was born July 20, 1942 to Braulio Laurel and Nazaria Saenz Laurel in Rio Grande City, Texas. As a housewife, she lovingly and honorably took care of her husband and children. She also devoutly served as a Eucharistic minister and taught Confraternity Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Encino, Texas.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Emilio P. Mangel of Encino; three sons, Emilio Mangel, Jr., George (Alma) Mangel and Juan Carlos (Claudia) Mangel all of Encino; two daughters, Debra Ann (Roel) Basaldua of Concepcion, Texas and Rose Marie (Juan Antonio Jr.) Perez of Falfurrias, Texas; four sisters, Sylvia Alaniz of Mission, Texas, Rafaela Cortez of Chicago, Illinois, Irma Ochoa of La Gloria, Texas, and Emma Grimaldo of Pharr, Texas;13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Encino with services to conclude with Burial at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Mangel Ranch.
