

Our Beloved Mother, Emma Trevino Cruz, a long-time resident of Falfurrias, was called home by heaven’s angels on Tuesday the 23rd of May, 2017 at Lindan Park Nursing Facility in Richardson, Texas after a long struggle with declining health and dementia. Born on December 12, 1927 in Falfurrias, Texas to her devoted parents, Bruno and Nicasia Trevino, Emma grew up in a large family with 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Emma graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1946. She had one daughter Janice Way from her first marriage.
On August 15th 1953 she married Librado Cruz. Together they celebrated the birth of three sons Lee, Paul, and John, and two daughters Gracie and Mary. Emma was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved attending all the sporting of events of her children when they attended Falfurrias High School as well as countless Little League Baseball games coached by her husband Librado Cruz.
Later in life she attended games coached by her adult children and played in by her grandchildren. While in the stands, Emma’s spirit and support showed with energy, enthusiasm, and cheering for the teams. Emma was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She volunteered her time at church events and at serving others at the local Adult Daycare and Nursing Home.
She enjoyed hosting coffee and prayer groups at her home with her many friends and sisters. Emma was a good cook, always prepared to feed anyone that came by. Emma enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Librado Cruz, her daughter Gracie Sanchez, her sister Esperanza Longoria, and brothers John Trevino, Alfredo Trevino, Raul Trevino.
She is survived by brother Robert and sisters Anita, Consuelo, Aida and Lupita, her children Janice Way of San Antonio, TX, Librado (Judy) Cruz Jr.-Orlando, FL-children Patti (Andy) Gonzalez, Christina, Juan Librado; Paul Michael (Nicole) Cruz-Mission, TX-children Samantha (Steve) Gonzalez and Anastasia; Mary Diane (Hector) Valero-Edinburg, TX; John Andrew (Barbara)-Sachse, TX-sons Drew and Cameron. She is also survived by sons of Gracie: Michael (Elizabeth) Sanchez-Henderson, NV; Bernal Jr. (Andrea) Sanchez-Goodyear, AZ; Adam Sanchez-Falfurrias, TX; Robert (Brandi) Sanchez –Harlingen, TX. She is survived by many grandchildren: Xiomarra, Juan Andres, Carter, Christopher, Jayden, Damien, Paloma, Valentina, Robert Jr., Vivien, Katalina, Penelope and Juan Francisco.
Pallbearers will be Lee Cruz, Paul Cruz, John Cruz, Drew Cruz, Cameron Cruz and Hector Valero.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
