Juan “Johnny” Cabrera, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2024 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on September 9, 1952 to Jose Maria Cabrera, Sr. and Maria Loy Cabrera in Premont, Texas and was blessed with 71 years of life. He was a proud 1973 graduate of Premont High School. He worked for many years at the Premont City Water Division and also sang for the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Choir. Johnny was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Johnny was an exceptional person with an unmatched gift for playing the guitar. Without hesitation or questions, Johnny would help anyone in need. Family meant the world to him and he absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. He loved making jokes and making people laugh. He had a remarkable memory and could tell you the exact date of many events and birthdays. Johnny was always seen in his cowboy hat, long sleeved button up shirt and jeans. His favorite thing to do was call his family in the morning to see what they wanted for breakfast and show up to deliver it.
Johnny was reunited in Heaven with his parents; brother, Rafael Cabrera and sister, Avelina Mendez.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of over 46 years, Josefa P. Cabrera of Premont; daughter, Marissa (Raul, III) Garza of Falfurrias, Texas; sons, Juan “Johnny” Cabrera, Jr. of Premont and Daniel (Valerie) Cabrera of Ingleside, Texas; brothers, Henry Zuniga of Dallas, Texas, Jose Maria (Violanda) Cabrera, Jr. of Premont and Francisco (Sylvia) Cabrera of Dallas; sisters, Belia (Raul) Gutierrez of Premont and Gracie (Raumaleo) Alonzo of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Juanito Cabrera, III, Autumn Cabrera, Lana Cabrera, Kyla Cabrera, Mariah Rebekah Garza, Joey Jacob Garza and Hailey Marie Garza; two great-grandchildren, Landon Robert Davis and Carter Ryan Davis; all his “FAVORITE” nieces and numerous nephews, extended family members and friends.
