Juan P. Lopez

Juan P. Lopez, Jr., 89, of Falfurrias, Texas passed away on March 25th 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. A Falfurrias native, Juan was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Diana Redner Lopez, his parents Juan and Maria Refugia Hinojosa de Lopez, brother Mario O. Lopez, and sister Raquel Garza.

Juan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving honorably from 1955-59, when he was deployed to Hokkaido, Japan. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service, beginning as a letter carrier, later supervisor, and ending his decades-long civil service career as Postmaster in Falfurrias.

He was a beloved family man and is survived by his six children, Miranda Lopez of Chandler, AZ, Susan Lopez of Pflugerville, TX, Judy (John) Ramirez of McAllen, TX, John (Lupe) Lopez of San Antonio, TX, Elizabeth (John) Pagiotas of Ovilla, TX and Cathy Lopez of San Antonio, TX. He is proud grandpa to 7 and great-grandpa to 5. His is also survived by his sister, Alida Sirus of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his adorable ginger cat, Rosie.

All who knew Juan will remember his easy smile, good nature and sense of humor. He would help anyone who needed it, with an open heart. He loved his "rancho" in Brooks County and enjoyed hunting deer, wild turkeys and palomas. He and brother Mario and son John had a memorable hunting trips to Colorado, along with other compadres. As a lifelong outdoorsman and hunter, Juan was an avid gun collector and enjoyed attending gun shows and trading with other collectors.

Some of the fondest memories are of extended family gatherings at the ranch with kids and cousins, the bar-b-que grill smoking and beans simmering. He enjoyed family camping trips in the summer to Garner State Park and traveled with his wife Diana throughout New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona where they collected arrowheads and Southwest artisan works.

Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias.
