Julian Martinez Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his residence in Falfurrias, Texas, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1954, in Falfurrias to Ramon Martinez Sr. and Juliana Trevino Martinez. Julian dedicated more than 24 years of his life working as a pipeliner for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company.
Julian was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. To Julian, a friend of a friend was already a friend to him. Known for his humor and playful spirit, he loved making people laugh with his jokes and silliness.
He was a tremendous cook who enjoyed sharing meals and teaching his children valuable life lessons. Julian took pride in being punctual and particular in all that he did, especially when it came to caring for his vehicles and the lifted trucks he treasured so much. He had a sweet tooth, enjoyed relaxing outside on his porch with a tall glass of sweet tea or a beer, and loved traveling, especially when he was the one driving so he could take in the scenery along the way. Above all, Julian cherished spending time working outdoors and making memories with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Aida “Fane” Martinez, Maria Elena Trevino, Elia Champion, Jesus “Chuy” Martinez, Janie Pittman, Ramon Martinez Jr., and Joel Mora; his brother-in-law, Wilton McLain; his sister-in-law, Mary D. Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of over 24 years, Helga Martinez; sons, Julian Martinez Jr., Julio Martinez, Jay Martinez, Rene Diaz, Michael Arredondo, John Corona, and Mark Corona; daughters, Jennee Martinez and Mariah Martinez; brother, Reynaldo Martinez; sisters, Grace Mora, Helen McLain, Julia “Tweety” Odem, Pat Perry, and Lucy Martinez; 12 grandchildren, Julian M.
