She is preceded in death by her mother, Beatriz S. Alaniz; her father, Marcelino Alaniz, her siblings: Canuta A. Montalvo, Romeo Alaniz, Roberto Alaniz, Reynaldo Alaniz, Rubio Alaniz, Rene Alaniz and cousin Benita Alaniz.
She survived by her husband of 64 years Alberto B. Montalvo; her children, Maricela M. Garza (Jesus J. Garza), Velma M. Ramirez (Javier Ramirez), Omar Ricardo Montalvo (Baudilia Montalvo), Dillia Garcia (Gerardo Garcia), Elda M. Noles (late Malcom Noles); her brother, Rolando Alaniz; sister, Irma A. Pena; sister-in-law, Graciela Alaniz and nephews, Rene A. Montalvo and Eduardo A. Montalvo(Lalo).
She was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, Christopher James Garza (Jennifer V. Garza), Christin M. Espinoza (Oscar J. Espinoza), Jon-Michael Garza (Natalie Nunez), Stephanie Flores (Daniel Flores), Theresa Eversole (Bryan Eversole), Joseph Allen, Vanessa Montalvo, Bianca Montalvo Elizondo (Gustavo Elizondo), Omar A. Montalvo (Nedi Montemayor), Miles Garcia, Corey Garcia, Drew Garcia, Audrey N. Stuber (Bobby Stuber), Andrea Noles (Steven Hernandez) and Grant Noles (Yadria Robles) and 22 great-grandchildren.
Julie was a teacher for the San Isidro Independent School district for most of her 38-year career where she touched the hearts of so many of her students. In her retirement years, she continued her passion helping many former students majoring in education with their studies. Julie had an unwavering faith in God. She was an active member of the San Isidro Catholic Church where she was a reader, helped with fundraisers, and had baptismal instruction as her ministry. She was a member of the service organization, Alpha Omega Rho and loved to travel. Julie always told her children to move away –far away so she could experience new cities or states. She loved sports in general but was an avid supporter of volleyball and basketball events held at San Isidro ISD. She passed on her love of sewing, crafting, painting and woodworking to her children and grandchildren.
The Funeral Service and Mass will be held at San Isidro Catholic Church, but will be private and relegated to immediate family only. A memorial service for friends will be scheduled at a later date.
