Leonel Duque

He was born in Falfurrias, Texas. Leonel graduated from Texas A&I University receiving dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice.

He married Caroline Chesney on September 4th, 1982. Leonel worked as a Narcotics officer for the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department and later became an Adult Probation Officer for the remainder of his career, retiring in Fall 2005. He was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and has a passion for spending time with his family whether coaching his son in little league baseball, backyard barbecuing, rooting for the Houston Texans, or always winning card and chess games. Most of all, he was an astounding and devoted provider to his wife and children.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Lino and Elida, and younger brother – Daniel.

He is survived by his wife – Carol, son – Leonel “Jr.”, daughter – Monica, two grandsons – Leonel III “Trey” and Colby, siblings – Lydia, Lorenzo, Leopoldo, Lino, Luisa, Diana, and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Rosary was held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 pm at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Burial will be held on at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father Zerr presiding.
