Maria A.M. Salinas, of Falfurrias, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Katy, Texas at the age of 91. She was born on March 6, 1930 to Roque Mendez and Venancia Valle Mendez in Los Fresnos, Texas. Maria was a homemaker who loved to cook and she made the best tortillas, large and great tasting. She was very crafty and valued sewing, embroidering and make blankets. Plants, flowers and gardening were always a passion of hers.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alonzo A. Salinas; sons, Juan Manuel Garza and Rolando Gilberto Garza; daughter, Maria Albertina (Arnulfo) Perez; son-in-law, Armando Barrera; brothers, Guadalupe Mendez and Gregorio Mendez.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie Barrera of Alvin, Texas; sons, Ricardo E. Ortiz, Sr. of Premont, Texas and Aniceto (Veronica) Garza, Jr. of Falfurrias; granddaughter whom she raised, Debbie Ortiz (Mario) Quintanilla of Falfurrias; daughters-in-law, Diana Garza of Floresville, Texas and Lucinda Ortiz of Premont; sister, Petra Deleon of Harlingen; 28 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Rosary and Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
