Rene Emeterio Yzaguirre Sr.

Rene Emeterio Yzaguirre Sr. passed away on May 13, 2026 at the age of 80. Rene was born on February 11, 1946, in Hebbronville, Texas, to Elvira and Daniel Yzaguirre Jr. He spent his early years in Realitos and Hebbronville alongside his older brother, Daniel Yzaguirre III. Rene attended Benavides High School and graduated in 1964. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Maria Elena Ramirez, and together they built a life centered around family, perseverance, and hard work. They raised their two children, Rene Jr. and Sandra, in Austin, Texas, where Rene dedicated 30 years of service to the IRS. Outside of his career, Rene had a deep love for ranching and the outdoors. Some of his greatest joys came from spending time with his family working on the ranch and passing down the values and traditions that meant so much to him. He was a simple, yet strong-willed man who always made sure his family was cared for and prepared to carry on the legacy he worked to build.

Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Elvira and Daniel Yzaguirre Jr.; his beloved wife, Maria Elena Yzaguirre; and his sister-in-law, Edna Gloria Yzaguirre.

He is survived by his children, Rene (Edna) Yzaguirre Jr. of Alice and Sandra (Randolph) Scott of Murphy, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren, Rene Yzaguirre III, Sophia Marie Yzaguirre, Emma Lee Yzaguirre, Randolph Scott V, and Reed Scott. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel (Nelda) Yzaguirre III of Hebbronville; and his nephews, Daniel (Claudia) Yzaguirre IV and Leopoldo (Rebecca) Yzaguirre.

A service to celebrate Rene’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a Rosary to be prayed at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville, Texas. Rene will then be laid to rest at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
