

Samuel D. Cadena entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by his family, at the age of 88. He was born on March 29, 1935 to Jose Cadena and Maria Dominguez in La Esperanza (Matamoros, Coahuila de Zaragoza) Mexico. Samuel was a faithful servant of the Lord and a lifelong Vaquero.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Martha (+Manuel) Romero, Guadalupe (+Fidel) Sanchez, Eva (+Domingo) Ortiz and Lydia Cadena and his granddaughter, Lillian M. Ruiz.
Samuel leaves behind many fond memories that will be forever treasured by his wife of 31 years, Herlinda G. Cadena; children, Jose (Becky) Cadena, Samuel (Priscilla) Cadena, Jr., Sara (Oscar) Ramirez, Jr., Gabriela (Rene) Ruiz, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Cadena, Angela (Juan Pedro) Mendez all of Hebbronville, Oscar (Karina) Garcia of Mission, Texas, Lauro (Katherine) Garcia of Hebbronville, and Zeneida (Emilio) Fuentes of Alamo, Texas; siblings, Daniel (+Juanita) Cadena, Ruben (Elivia) Cadena and Juan (+Carmela) Cadena; 31 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
Samuel lived his life in surrender to God. He was proud to be a son of God and was never reluctant to share the word of God. He was a Vaquero in South Texas ranches and had a passion for his handcrafted leather work.
Samuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and never knew a stranger. His legacy will live through generations and his love will be carried forever through his songs, words of encouragement, and laughter.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville.
