San Juanita “Janie” Longoria Barrera entered eternal rest on Friday, February 20, 2026, at her residence in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 70. She was born on October 3, 1955, to Paz Longoria and Carolina Diaz Longoria in Falfurrias. Janie worked in the cafeteria for many years with Brooks County ISD and later became a home health provider. She was a very kind and caring person, always willing to talk or listen to anyone who needed to and love gathering with her group of girlfriends.
She was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord and reunited with her beloved parents, Paz Longoria and Carolina Trevino; husband, Ramiro “Ram” Barrera; brothers, Rodolfo, Hector, Juan, Oscar, Ramiro, Roel, and Robelin Longoria, and Ricardo Trevino; sister, Bertha Barrera Gonzalez; and many other loved ones.
Janie is survived by her son, Jose “Joe” Manuel Chapa of Falfurrias; brothers, Gilbert (Janie) Longoria of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Jesus Martin Trevino of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Emma Longoria, and Herlinda Salinas both of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Hector Longoria, Paz Longoria, Adan Vicente Hernandez, Jimmy Lee Hernandez, Miguel Gonzalez, Omar Longoria, Raul Barrera, and Felipe Damian Hernandez.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
