Walterio Galvan

Walterio was born in Rio Viejo in his beloved Colombia and immigrated to America in 1964 to give his family the many opportunities he was not afforded. It was a proud day when he became a US citizen. He enjoyed visiting his homeland and coming back tanned and rejuvenated. He loved the outdoors and many family trips involved a day at the beach or a walk in the park. He was a hard worker and provider for his family. He mainly worked in the extreme heat and dust of auto body repair before retiring. He and his wife were very active in various service groups in St. Michael’s Church. They enjoyed the fellowship in Christ that they had there and the many friends they made. Walterio was a quiet man. His strength of character guided, protected and filled us with peace. We hope now that the weight of this world has been lifted from him, he can rest and be lifted to Heaven knowing the love his family has for him and the legacy he left behind.

He was survived by his beloved wife, Gladys Galvan, daughter Magaly (Bill) Vincent, son Walter Galvan and Ankney Family, Melissa (Richard) DiLeonardo and their children Chase and Olivia DiLeonardo, grandson Billy Vincent and granddaughter Megan Vincent

He loved a good beer or a little whiskey upon occasion. He loved a good joke or funny story. We are grateful for every moment he shared with us. He will be missed greatly.

Special thanks to his daughter Magaly for the time and miles spent going to give her father comfort and company. You are a godsend and the pillar of our family. To Karina the aide from Jasa, your efforts will always be appreciated. Most of all to Gladys Galvan for caring for her husband until the end, doting and giving him unconditional love. She might not believe it but she is our rock. We love you always.

A visitation for Walterio will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quinn- Fogarty Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Blvd Flushing, NY 11358. Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 27, 2022 10:30 AM St Michael's Church, 138-37 Barclay Ave, Flushing, New York 11355. Committal service to follow at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY.

Walterio Galvan, 87 falleció el jueves 21 de julio de 2022 en su casa en Flushing, NY.

Walterio nació en su amada Rio Viejo, Colombia y emigró a Estados Unidos en 1964 para darle a su familia las oportunidades que él no tuvo. Fue un día de orgullo cuando se convirtió en ciudadano estadounidense. Le gustaba visitar su tierra natal y regresar bronceado y rejuvenecido. Le encantaba el aire libre y muchos viajes familiares involucraban un día en la playa o un paseo por el parque. Era un gran trabajador y proveedor de su familia. Trabajó principalmente en el calor extremo y el polvo de la reparación de carrocerías de automóviles antes de jubilarse. Él y su esposa fueron muy activos en varios grupos de servicio en la iglesia de St. Michaels. Disfrutaron de la comunión en Cristo que tenían allí y de los muchos amigos que hicieron. Walterio era un hombre tranquilo. Su fuerza de carácter nos guió, protegió y llenó de paz. Esperamos que ahora que el peso de este mundo se ha quitado de encima, pueda descansar y ser elevado al Cielo sabiendo el amor que su familia tiene por él y el legado que dejó atrás.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Gladys Galvan, su hija Magaly (Bill) Vincent, su hijo Walter Galvan y la familia Ankney, nieta Melissa (Richard) DiLeonardo y sus hijos Chase y Olivia DiLeonardo, nieto Billy Vincent y nieta Megan Vinvent.

Le encantaba una buena cerveza o un poco de whisky de vez en cuando. Le encantaba un buen chiste o una historia divertida. Estamos agradecidos por cada momento que compartió con nosotros. Se le extrañará mucho. Agradecimiento especial a su hija Magaly por el tiempo y las millas dedicadas a brindarle consuelo y compañía a su padre. Eres un regalo del cielo y el pilar de nuestra familia. Para Karina, la ayudante de Jasa, sus esfuerzos siempre serán apreciados. Sobre todo a Gladys Galván por cuidar a su esposo hasta el final, mimarlo y darle amor incondicional. Puede que no lo crea, pero es nuestra roca. Te amamos siempre.
