Abel Sotelo

Abel Sotelo of Berwyn, passed away of natural causes on November 1, 2021 in the presence of his beloved family. Abel was 83 years old. He was born in Guerrero, Mexico on November 10, 1937 to the late Elpidio Sotelo and the late Victoria Delgado. He immigrated to the United States in 1957, at the age of 19. Abel lived in California before making Chicago his forever home. He married his sweetheart, Raquel, in 1961. Together they had seven children. Abel was a happy man who loved to dance and was always smiling. He retired from Tootsie Roll Inc. in 2001.

Abel is survived by his dear wife Raquel, his children Fernando, Arminda (Alberto), Abel Cesar, Chely (Jose) and Mari. He was preceded in death by two of his sons Dagoberto (Vanessa) and Edgar Daniel (Carmen). Abel loved his ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren and always greeted them with excitement – Dezarie Anise, Edgar Daniel Jr, Alberto Eric, Vanity Jonel, Stefanie Raquel (Victor), Monica, Leila Ariana, Galilea, Diego Dagoberto and Marco Abel, and his two great grandchildren Damien and Kamila Maria. Abel is also survived by his brother, Ricardo (Alicia), and sisters, Irma (Antonio) and Elsa (Lorenzo), and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Abel will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois 60130, from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral mass on Monday, November 8, 2021 at St. Odilo Church, 2244 South East Avenue, Berwyn, Illinois, 60402, at 9:30 a.m.

Interment to follow the funeral mass at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 South Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162, on Monday, November 8th, 2021 at 11:30am.
