Hazel D. Snover, age 96, 73 year resident of River Forest, passed away December 26th in Joliet Community Hospice, after a brief illness. Hazel was a crossing guard for the village of River Forest for over 30 years, crossing children of the village mainly at Park Ave. and Lake St. and Franklin Ave and Washington Blvd. until her retirement in 1996. Hazel was a member of the Forest Park VFW 7181 and the River Grove Moose chapter 780. Hazel lived life to its fullest, and traveled often. She enjoyed senior outings to the gambling boats. She was affectionately known by most as “Sunshine”, and she will be missed by all who knew her for her bright smile and positive outlook on life. Mrs. Snover is survived by her son Robert (Janice) Snover, grandchildren Norman, Frank and Brian and great-grandchildren Brandon, Michael, Conrad, Blake, Gracie Mae and Patrick. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Snover a daughter Janice Balicki and a granddaughter Kristine. Visitation Monday 4-8 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park.
