Joan Shannon, nee Balsamo, of Northfield, former longtime resident of River Forest, passed away August 23, 2014 in her Door County, Wisconsin home. Beloved wife of Edward J. Shannon, Jr.; loving mother of Edward, John and Brigid Shannon and Jane (Luke) Kennedy; proud grandmother of E.J. and Declan Shannon and Barrett and Luke Kennedy; dearest sister of Richard “Dick” (Beth) Balsamo, Diane “Dee Dee” (Kevin) Goggin and the late Donna Gubbins; fond aunt of many, and dear friend to countless others; preceded in death by her parents Dr. Nicholas and Isabel Balsamo.
