

John dedicated his career to security services, spending 20 years working for The Chicago Tribune. Most recently, he served with care and professionalism at AdventHealth Hinsdale and AdventHealth LaGrange hospitals. John took pride in his work and quietly looked after others every day.
John is survived by his loving siblings: Susan Trefny; Bonnie Scilingo; James Trefny (Jobea),Tammy Trefny( Dawn Viti). He was preceded in death by his parents James and Carol Trefny and brother-in-law, Anthony M. Scilingo, whom he cherished deeply.
John was a proud and devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews: Anthony Scilingo; Jaime Mazur (Eddie), Rebecca Child (Bill), Heather Fiorito (Matt), Andrew Trefny (Morgan), Andrey Trefny; Nadya Trefny; and Riley Trefny. He was also a loving great-uncle to Nora, James, Mila, Olivia, Thomas, Marie, and Everett each of whom brought him great joy.
John had a true love for sports, especially the Chicago Blackhawks, and could always be counted on for spirited conversation during the season. He will be remembered for his unforgettable sense of humor, his warm heart, and his deep love for dogs.
