Maria G Gutierrez

Maria was born on November 5th, 1935 in Caballerias, Jalpa, Zacatecas, to Leopoldo Tiscareño and Maria Trinidad Peres. She grew up in Caballerias where she would enjoy horseback riding and target shooting. Maria was a natural actress participating in the town plays and beauty pageants. She was la Reyna del Pueblo and de los Charros.

She married Rafael Gutierrez Salazar on December 25th, 1959, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Together they raised four children named Jose de Jesus, Jaime, Samuel, and Rene.

Maria is remembered for her humor, strength, and witty sayings. She enjoyed gardening, going to church, cooking, and trying new restaurants. All her life she devoted herself to the Catholic church and became a minister. As a minister Maria dedicated her time teaching children about Catholicism, visiting and delivering communion to the sick in their time of need. Above all, she cherished time with family and friends.

Maria is survived by her children, Jaime, Samuel, Rene; grandchildren, Cristina and Ricardo; great-grand daughter, Catherine; two brothers, Juan Manuel and Rogerlio. She was preceded in death by Rafael (Husband), Jose de Jesus (Son), Leopoldo (Father), and Maria Trinidad (Mother).

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday April 26th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, The Mystical Rose Parish - OLM, 2400 S 61st Ave, Cicero, IL 60804, US, on April 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130 from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Maria’s life.
