Richard John Hanna, age 84, of Savannah, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois passed away in Chicago, Illinois on July 1, 2022. Beloved husband of Byron S. Dunham. Loving son of the late Richard and Violet Hanna of River Grove, Illinois. Adored cousin of Mrs. J. Brian Hancock of Brighton, Michigan and Barbara Blaha of Woodale, Illinois.
Dick was a 1955 graduate of Leyden East High School and he received a 1961 Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). He was employed in Chicago from 1961 to 1978 by various Architectural firms including Perkins & Will and Skidmore Owings & Merrill. Richard and Byron moved to Savannah Georgia in 1978, where Richard was employed as an Architect with the South East Headquarters of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1995. The couple of 54 years have residences in Chicago and Skidaway Island, Georgia.
Dick was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and also a member of the President’s Council of the University of Illinois Foundation.
