

Rodolfo "Rudy" Perez, a beloved and cherished life partner, brother and uncle, passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on February 16, 1956, in Gary, Indiana, Rodolfo's life was marked by dedication to his family, education, and career.
Rudy graduated from Wm A Wirt High School in Gary, Indiana, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career, culminating in his retirement from the office of the Auditor General of Illinois.
Rudy is survived by the love of his life, Stanislawa "Stefie" Towarnika; sister Gricelda "Chris" Martin (Greg), sister Carmen "Victoria" De Leon (John), and brother Dr. Rogelio "Roger" Perez.
Rudy was predeceased by his father Manuel Perez Lozano from Zacatecas, Mexico, and mother Candelaria Mireles Perez from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, by his loving brothers Dr. Manuel "Marty" Mireles Perez, and Gerardo "Gerry" Mireles Perez (Mary Jo).
He was a loving uncle to Candice Saunders (Ryne), Susan Claywell (Nick), Alana De Leon Plum (Marco), John De Leon Jr. and other nieces and nephews on the East Coast, Texas & Mexico City.
In his personal life, Rudy enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends. He was best remembered for his willingness to help his family and the great pride he held for his Mexican heritage.
A visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL, 60130, on February 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Musical tribute will take place at 3:00 pm followed by prayer and reflection at 3:30 pm by Pastor Tino Ojeda of Emmanuel Bible Church in Berwyn, IL.
Rudy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
