

Addiyaat Hassan, age 74, formerly of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on December 30, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Robert Johnson and Evelyn (Stanford) O’Kelley. Addiyaat lived in Beloit most of her life and eventually moved to Fort Wayne in her later years. She worked as a hairdresser until her retirement, but also worked for the Historical Society while in Beloit. Addiyaat was instrumental in founding the Chute Street Islamic Center, which was the first African American founded Muslim center in Fort Wayne. When not working, she enjoyed fishing and golf. She also loved being with her family, especially the grandchildren. Addiyaat will be remembered as a giving, loving, and caring individual and will be dearly missed by her family and friends alike. She is survived by her daughters, Jhalaniy Hassan and Khaira Davidson-Hassan; grandchildren, Jhasmin (Jeremy) Woods, Dominique Davidson, Khaira (Jaquavis Allen) Hassan, Gamari Hassan, and Mance My Risha Hudson; great-grandchildren, Gamari, Soleah, Jayah, Jayci, Kaydence, Truth, Taylor-Reign, Kennedy, and Mya; three sisters; and three brothers. Addiyaat was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; and her grandson Malik Davidson. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be written to the Hassan family ($khaidavidson1, $jhalaniy).
