Arthur James “A.J.” Leffers passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fort Wayne on January 22, 1937 to the late Edward G. and Bertha C. (Buettner) Leffers. He spent his formative years in Arcola and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1955. On May 4, 1957, Arthur married Ann Lucille Knop. She preceded him in death March 27, 2005. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Leffers was a general contractor; and owned and operated Art Leffers Construction Company. A.J. loved to garden and farm. Surviving are sons, Blaine (Chrissy Romano) Leffers, Kurt (Kristie Hoffman) Leffers, and Barry (Dawn Heiser) Leffers; daughter, Marla (Phil) Yarnelle; sister, Kate (Phil) Riecke; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Paul, Donald, Charles, and an infant brother; sister, Ruth Stapelton; grandson, Brett Leffers; and great-grandson, Silas Leffers. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1 PM at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Church. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home.
