Barbara Ann Alt

BARBARA A. ALT, 54, of Fort Wayne, passed from this earthly life and went to meet the Lord on Sunday, August 9th, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. She had fought a courageous battle with brain cancer over the last five months. The outpouring of love and compassion from her family, friends, and co-workers has been a true blessing during these last few months. Barb was born December 5, 1960 in Lima, Ohio, a daughter of Bernard and the late Dorothy (Hoffman) Alt. Barb was a graduate of East Noble High School and obtained two bachelor degrees from Anderson College and Brown Mackie College. She was employed as a plate maker with Courier in Kendallville, Ind. Barb enjoyed hiking, photography, scary movies, and most of all collecting pig figurines. Her pig collection is on display at Where Pigs Fly Farm and Pigs Aloft Museum in Owensville, MO. She was formerly married to Troy Lockwood of Auburn, Ind., and that union led to their son, Keeton Lockwood, being born in 1993, whom she loved with her whole heart. Keeton is currently studying Philosophy at the Pontifical College Josephinum and is a seminarian of the diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend, Ind. Barb is survived by her son, Keeton Lockwood of Fort Wayne; brothers, Tom (Linda) Alt of Columbia City, Ind., Charles (Claire) Alt of Greenwood, Ind., Ron (Rynae) Alt of Shawnee, KS, and Kevin (Cynthia) Alt of Huntington Beach, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:00pm at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior, Father Dan Scheidt officiating. A celebration of Barb’s life will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 4-6pm at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Rd, Fort Wayne. Inurnment to follow the service at Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative, Rosenbaum GBM Research Fund, or to Catholic Charities.
