Betty J. Rykard

Betty J. Rykard, 91 of Fort Wayne went to be with Jesus, Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Park Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne. She was born July 18, 1933, in New Tazewell, Tennessee to Otis Buttery and Maggie (Woodward) Gable. She loved reading her Bible, going to Pathway Community Church and attending various Bible studies. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Vance (Bobbi) Rykard and Sharon Kay (Cleat) Roller; nine grandchildren, James Eric (Hannah) Roller, Heather Pettyjohn, Josh (Jennifer) Rykard, Jami (Matt) Hall, Kristen Turney, Jennifer (Steve) Hartman, Brad (Becky) Roller, Luke Rykard and Sammy (Madison) Rykard; 17 great grandchildren, Zac, Hunter, Weston, Gus, Alec, Tallyn, Aidyn, Ben, Kate, Kamryn, Kyler, Jayla, Bailey, Hannah, Ian, Lukas and Mariah; six great-grandchildren, Beckett, Emmett, Aurora, Otto, Khari and Leilannee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; two sons, Mark and Sam; two sisters, Alice Farmer and Barb Osgood and a brother, Robert Buttery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835, Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
