

Beverly J. (Subler) Sandmann, PhD, borne away by angels on Thursday, February 15, 2018 was born on January 5, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Glenn Michael Subler and Ruby Maxine Subler (nee Benbow). Beverly married Robert Arnold Sandmann on February, 3, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio. Beverly was a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy where she was a member of both the ZTA Sorority and the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society. She received her Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Wisconsin in 1969. Beverly practiced retail Pharmacy in the Dayton, Ohio area; hospital Pharmacy at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri; and compounding pharmacy at the Medicine Shop in Indianapolis, Indiana. She served on the faculty of the School of Pharmacy, University of Missouri, Kansas City, from 1969 to 1988, where she progressed to Professor of Pharmacy and published numerous scientific and professional papers. In 1988 she joined the Holcomb Research Institute at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. While at Butler University, she also directed the graduate programs for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and co-authored a textbook entitled “Applied Physical Pharmacy”. Throughout her life Beverly’s Christian faith was expressed by her involvement in serving the Church, ministering to patients, nursing homes and many individuals. At her death she was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Girard, Kansas. In 2005 Beverly was granted a Certificate of Lay Ministry from Concordia University, Wisconsin and in 2006, graduated as a Chaplain from the Clarian Health Partners Program in Indianapolis. Beverly was devoted to her family, loved to garden so much she became a “Master Gardener”, and would go fishing at any opportunity! Beverly is survived by husband Robert; children, Kara (David) Raetzel and, Robert (Danielle) Sandmann; four special grandchildren, Alyssa Raetzel, Austin Raetzel, Noelle Sandmann, and Natalie Sandmann; and sister, Rebecca (David) Bechtold. Beverly was predeceased by her son David. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Reverend Donald Sandmann officiating. Committal Service will be 1:00pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio.
