

Brent Craig Vian, 51, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 25th, 2014. He was born May 14th, 1963 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his youth he swam competitively for Fort Wayne’s Southeast YMCA and also participated at the Fort Lauderdale YMCA national competition five times. He graduated from Snider High School with the class of 1982. Following his bachelor’s degree in psychology from IU, he earned a juris doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University in 1991. He was owner of Vian Law Offices in Fort Wayne. For the past ten years he has also been an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech.
In recent years, Brent enjoyed attending his daughter’s soccer games, and he assisted in coaching the St. Charles girls’ soccer team from 2009 to 2012. He was an excellent cook and liked to experience new foods with his son. As an accomplished photographer, he beautifully recorded most life and family events. Brent remained an avid IU basketball fan throughout his life. He was a member of the Mad Anthony Serious Homebrewers (MASH) Club, and he enjoyed the company of the Stein Club at Dicky’s.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Deborah Cameron Vian, son Alexander Vian, and daughter Emily Vian; parents Benjamin Riley and Shari Vian; siblings Tami (Kim) Pedler, Trina Vian, Mindy (Kevin) Wilhelm.
Funeral service will be 6pm Thursday January 1, 2015, at Hockemeyer & Miller funeral home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling from 11am to 1pm and 4pm to 6pm, prior to service. Memorial donations may be given to the children’s education fund c/o Riley Vian
