Gene A. Helm

Gene A. Helm, 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Heritage Park. Born February 3, 1935 in Convoy, Ohio, he was a son of the late Arthur Helm and Elizabeth (Green) Helm Forlow. Gene was an accountant for over 30 years with Carroll, Deal, & Winkler which was later acquired by Baden, Gage, & Schroeder; from which he retired. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church for over 50 years, Lakeside Golf Club and Driftwood Model Boat Club. Gene enjoyed golf, building and racing radio-controlled model boats and tending to his yard and rose garden. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna (Turner) Helm of Fort Wayne; daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Anderson of Fort Wayne; son, Scott (Dawn) Helm of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Holly (Nate) Decker, Grant Anderson, Mindy Helm, and Katie Helm; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Fackler of Convoy, Ohio. Funeral Service will be Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00am at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or to the family c/o Donna Helm.
