

Helen Martha (Michel) Neuendorf Schmidt, 97, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. Born on December 3, 1917, in Farina, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Alwine (Grandt) Michel. Helen was a wonderful homemaker; her faith and family were always most important in her life. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for over 35 years. Helen was a very active woman who enjoyed bowling, gardening and water aerobics. She also enjoyed baking, bird watching and butterflies. She is survived by her children, Eugene (Joyce) Neuendorf of Wisconsin, Mary (Nelson) Coats of Fort Wayne, daughter-in-law, Verla Neuendorf of Logansport, Ind., Cynthia (Martin) Bireschke of Louisville, KY, Michael (Beverly) Schmidt of Fort Wayne, Eila (Gary) Pattee of Columbia City, Ind., and Theodore (Vicki) Schmidt of Savannah, GA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Winfred Neuendorf and Eugene Schmidt; and son, Dean Neuendorf. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July21, 2015, at 11:00am at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held on Monday July 20, 2015 from 3-5 & 6-8pm, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wanatah, Ind.
