Jon Allen Uhrick of Spencerville, Indiana, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center at the age of 76. Born on March 20, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Fred and Betty Jane (nee McClellan) Uhrick. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Grabill, and proudly served his country in the Army as a SSGT, during the Vietnam War.
He met and married the love of his life, Dixie Cornewell on July 19, 1969.
Jon was a lover of life and enjoyed it until the day the Lord called him home. All that knew Jon knows he loved to speak his mind. He loved to tinker with all sorts of things. Holidays, he would always set off acetylene bombs. He loved building things and was a trained diesel machine mechanic; training many servicemen during his time of service in the Army. Jon also worked with and owned a computer shop.
He leaves a legacy of memories to his wife of more than 51 years, Dixie (nee Cornewell) Uhrick; daughter, Jonelle (Adam) Vogelsong; two grandchildren, Nathanail L. Bollman (Sophia M Stuckey), Samantha C. (Matthew) Bollman Lewis, and six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He is gone, but never will he be forgotten.
Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, May 14, 2021, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 12640 St Joe Rd., Grabill, Indiana with calling one hour prior to service.
